Tournament Format and Tie-Break Rules
The competition features 12 groups of four teams each, with every team playing three group matches. The top two teams from each group advance, joined by the eight best third-place teams, creating a 32-team knockout round.
Ties within groups are resolved first by points obtained among tied teams, then goal difference, goals scored, overall goal difference, conduct scores based on disciplinary records, and if needed, FIFA rankings.
Teams from the same confederation can't be drawn into the same group, except European squads.
