Adam Jackson Leaves Lincoln City but Continues Training

Adam Jackson’s time as a Lincoln City player is over, but he has not quite walked away from the club yet.

The 32-year-old defender has had his contract terminated by mutual consent after being told earlier in the summer he would not be part of the Imps’ 25-man squad for this season. A move failed to materialise before the transfer window shut, leaving both player and club to find a different solution.

They have now done exactly that. Jackson is no longer on the books as a registered Lincoln player, yet he will continue to train with the Championship side while he searches for a new club.

It is an unusual arrangement, but one that underlines the bond built over six years of service. Jackson joined Lincoln in 2018 and went on to make 179 appearances in all competitions, a steady presence across multiple managers and campaigns.

This season, though, has passed him by. His only outing came in late August, in the Carabao Cup win at Blackpool. That proved to be his final competitive appearance in an Imps shirt.

Sporting director Jez George underlined why Lincoln have kept the door open for Jackson on the training pitch, even after the contract was cut short. The club, he said, “will do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, adding that the arrangement “shows the respect both parties have for each other”.

So Jackson now works day to day with a squad he can no longer represent on matchdays, using familiar surroundings to stay sharp while the next chapter of his career waits to be written.
