Al-Hilal Breaks Records to Sign Crysencio Summerville for 70 Million Euros

Al-Hilal has completed the signing of 24-year-old Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham United, marking the most expensive transfer in the club's history during this window. The Saudi side finalized a contract lasting four years after Summerville passed his medical test in Amsterdam last Tuesday.

The transfer fee exceeds 70 million euros (around 60 million pounds), which includes a fixed payment of 55 million euros and an additional 5 million in performance-related bonuses, according to reports from The Athletic. This move was a clear priority for the new management team, including sporting director Simon Francis, who recently joined from Bournemouth.

Competition From European Clubs

Before Al-Hilal’s successful bid, several European clubs showed interest in Summerville. Roma offered 46 million euros, Manchester United made inquiries about his availability, and Aston Villa also expressed interest. Still, none could match the Saudi club's offer, which ultimately secured the player’s transfer.

Summerville’s departure from West Ham seemed inevitable after the club's relegation to the Championship, despite his contract running until 2029. He originally joined West Ham in 2024 from Leeds United. During his time at the Hammers, he appeared in 56 games, scoring 7 goals and assisting 5 more just last season.
