Alisson Becker Fined £8,000 After Tunnel Incident

Alisson Becker has been hit with an £8,000 fine by the Football Association after losing his temper in the tunnel and smashing his frustration into the fourth official’s numbers board.

The Liverpool goalkeeper’s anger boiled over after the final whistle, with the FA confirming he had been charged with misconduct for his behaviour in the tunnel area.

"It was alleged that the goalkeeper acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area after the final whistle. Alisson Becker has subsequently accepted the charge against him and received the standard penalty," the FA said.

He did not contest the charge. He accepted it and took the punishment.

The flashpoint stemmed from a late penalty awarded against Liverpool for a foul on Neco Williams. The challenge came after the defender had already got his shot away, with contact following the release of the ball. Alisson was furious with the decision on the pitch and still seething when he headed down the tunnel.

Tension had already been building. Just before the incident, the fourth official’s numbers board malfunctioned, delaying a triple substitution that Andoni Iraola had been trying to make. The stoppage added confusion and irritation on the touchline at a key moment.

Now, the Key Match Incident (KMI) Panel has ruled that referee Sam Barrott got the penalty call wrong.
