Alisson Fined £8,000 for Tunnel Incident at Anfield

Alisson has been hit with an £8,000 fine for kicking the fourth official’s electronic board near the Anfield tunnel after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Liverpool goalkeeper lashed out at the equipment as he left the pitch at full-time on Saturday, frustration boiling over at the end of a chaotic finish against Oliver Glasner’s side.

That anger had roots. Earlier in the game, Alisson conceded a penalty when he raced off his line and collided with Neco Williams, allowing Morgan Gibbs-White to put Forest 2-1 up from the spot. On Wednesday, the Key Match Incidents panel released its findings and ruled the penalty should not have been awarded.

Tension had already been building around the technical area. The fourth official’s board malfunctioned during the second half, leaving Liverpool unable to make substitutions despite the ball going out of play three times with the score at 1-1. Each stoppage brought more agitation on the home bench as changes were delayed.

The pressure finally told in Forest’s favour. Liam Delap took a quick throw-in to Williams, who surged into the box and went down under Alisson’s challenge, leading to the controversial spot-kick that the panel later deemed incorrect.

After the match, video footage circulated showing Alisson striking the fourth official’s board with his foot as he headed towards the tunnel. The FA reviewed the incident and charged the 33-year-old with misconduct.

An FA spokesperson confirmed that Alisson accepted the charge, which stated he had “acted in an improper manner around the tunnel area,” bringing the fine and drawing a disciplinary line under a night that will still sting at Anfield.
