Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan

Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and handing the Championship club a much‑needed boost on the left flank.

The 25-year-old winger joins from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a portion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.

Norwich’s plans shifted sharply when Ali Ahmed, pencilled in as the primary left-sided option, suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna. That setback forced City back into the market. Musaba quickly became the solution.

He flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical and finalised personal terms before the club confirmed him as their fifth senior signing of the summer. He will wear the number 49 shirt. On the opposite flank, £8m arrival Andre Brooks remains the headline piece of business, but Musaba’s capture feels every bit as strategic.

This is not a leap into the unknown for player or coach. Musaba and Clement worked together at Monaco, and that familiarity clearly mattered.

"I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move," Musaba told the club’s official channels. "I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.

"I remember him (Philippe Clement) from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him. He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player."

Norwich are banking on a more polished version of a player the Championship has seen before. Musaba previously spent time at Sheffield Wednesday, where he delivered 23 goal contributions across 80 appearances for the Owls, showing flashes of pace, direct running and end product that made him a persistent threat at this level.

"I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then," he said. "There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going."

Inside the club, the belief is that his profile dovetails perfectly with Clement’s front-foot blueprint.

City sporting director Ben Knapper was unequivocal in his assessment. "I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City," he said. "We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.

"He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically. We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets."

Norwich wanted pace, power and a ready-made answer to an unexpected injury crisis. In Musaba, they have turned back to a familiar face for Clement and a proven operator in the division. The question now is simple: how quickly can that understanding translate into points on the board?
