Arsenal Considering Marcus Rashford to Replace Gabriel Martinelli
Arsenal are weighing up a bold move to replace Gabriel Martinelli with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, according to the UK Telegraph.
Martinelli is set to leave the Emirates in a deal worth more than £50m, a figure that would represent a club-record sale for the Gunners. The Brazil winger has reportedly given the go-ahead for a switch to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, having earlier turned down interest from Galatasaray.
His exit has not gone unnoticed inside the club. The Telegraph reports there is “some internal surprise” at Arsenal that Martinelli has been allowed to depart before a replacement for his position is firmly in place.
That gap on the left could now open the door for Rashford. Arsenal are said to be exploring a loan move for the England international as they look to plug a major hole in their attack without committing to a huge permanent fee.
Rashford’s own recent path has been far from straightforward. He has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first at Aston Villa and then at Barcelona, as United weighed up his long-term role at Old Trafford.
Now his future could be pulled into the heart of a Premier League title race.
