Arsenal Pursues Aston Villa Defender Ezri Konsa
Arsenal are ramping up their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, with growing confidence inside the club that a deal can be struck for the England international.
Konsa has emerged as Arsenal’s leading defensive target, the player they want to anchor the next phase of Mikel Arteta’s back line. The Premier League champions, though, have so far refused to hit Villa’s £60m valuation, leaving negotiations finely poised.
Talks between the clubs were reopened last week, as first reported by BBC Sport, but Arsenal’s latest approach again fell short of an agreement. Villa have held firm, pointing to Konsa’s importance and the strength of their position.
For a brief spell, it looked as though Arsenal were ready to look elsewhere. Attention shifted towards Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarrell Quansah, a move that suggested the London club might be preparing to walk away from Konsa.
Instead, interest in Konsa has intensified. Arsenal are now pushing harder, testing Villa’s resolve and searching for a structure that could bring the price down or spread the cost.
Villa know exactly what they want. Arsenal know exactly who they want. The next move, and the next number, will decide whether Konsa walks out at Emirates Stadium in an Arsenal shirt.
