Arsenal Plans £70m Offer for Bruno Guimaraes Despite Newcastle’s Resistance

Arsenal are set to submit a £70 million offer for Bruno Guimaraes, aiming to convince Newcastle United to part with their captain. The Brazil international has expressed his wish to join the Gunners, putting pressure on Newcastle who have so far refused to sell.

Midfield Reinforcement Priority

The Gunners view Guimaraes as their top target this summer, with manager Mikel Arteta seeking to strengthen the midfield. Earlier talks suggested Arsenal might offer around £60m, but now they have raised the bid. Guimaraes’ desire to move to the Emirates is clear, which could speed up negotiations in the coming days.

Transfer Activity So Far

Arsenal’s transfer window started quietly but they have secured several deals. Winger Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge for £34m, while Piero Hincapie made his move permanent for the same fee following a loan from Bayer Leverkusen. Goalkeeper Illan Meslier joined on a free transfer. They missed out on Morgan Rogers after Chelsea signed him for £117m, despite Arteta's interest.

Additional Targets Ahead of Deadline

The club still looks to sign a defender, midfielder, and forward before the window closes. Ezri Konsa is among the defensive options after William Saliba suffered a long-term back injury. Free agent John Stones is also being considered. Up front, Julian Alvarez remains admired, though Atletico Madrid insist he won’t be sold. Bradley Barcola is another possibility, though Liverpool seem to lead the chase for the PSG winger.
