Arteta Unfazed by Contract Talks Ahead of Manchester City Clash

Mikel Arteta is walking into the new season with Manchester City on the horizon and contract questions swirling around him – and he could not sound less bothered.

Back in May, co-chairman Josh Kroenke made it clear that tying down the Spaniard to a new deal was a “top priority” for the club. The clock has ticked on since then, the season curtain-raiser in Cardiff is upon them, and still no announcement.

Arteta’s message? Relax.

Speaking ahead of the showdown with City, he moved quickly to calm any nerves among the fanbase.

“They don’t have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here. I am extremely happy. I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with and when we have the possibility, we will resolve that. And that's it.”

No drama. No hints. Just a firm insistence that his future is not a problem.

For Arteta, the real noise is elsewhere. The transfer market is where his attention sits right now, and he made that point clear.

“There is always another priority, I think! And that's the way we have been treating it, I think because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue.”

The club’s stance mirrors his. There is no tension, no public brinkmanship, no briefing war in the background. Just a manager and a hierarchy who believe they are on the same page.

“I think because my will, certainly, is to be here and I am very happy here. My feeling from the club is the same one. That is why everyone is doing things in a really organic way.”

So while others speculate about signatures and timelines, Arteta heads to Cardiff sounding sure of his place, sure of his backing, and sure that the real battles this week will be fought on the pitch against Manchester City, not across a negotiating table.
