Hansi Flick Reacts to Barcelona's Surprise €10m Signing of Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick expressed surprise after the club completed the signing of Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus for just €10 million on deadline day. The 29-year-old Brazilian arrives as the sixth major addition to the Blaugrana squad this summer, enhancing a strong attacking lineup following their flawless start in La Liga.
Jesus Joins Barcelona
The Catalan club agreed with Arsenal on an initial fee of €10 million for Jesus. He traveled to Catalonia on Monday and signed a two-year deal. Jesus was at Camp Nou to watch his new teammates crush Rayo Vallecano 5-2, a win that kept Barcelona's perfect run in La Liga intact with three wins from three matches. The official unveiling is scheduled for Tuesday.
Flick Surprised by the Deal
The low transfer cost caught Flick off guard. The German manager admitted he did not expect Arsenal to let their striker leave so late in the window. Flick said,
"I was a little surprised we had the opportunity to get him. I really love him, I like his style to play football, it fits with our style. I think he can help us a lot in the games."
Deco’s Role in Reinforcing the Squad
Sporting director Deco has been busy this summer, bringing in Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Rodri, Joao Cancelo, and Dominik Livakovic to strengthen the team. Flick praised Deco's efforts in securing Jesus, saying,
"For us, he can be an important player, so thanks to Deco because again he made an excellent job."
Barcelona had earlier tried to sign Julian Alvarez to boost their attack but were blocked by rivals Atletico Madrid, who refused negotiations.

Although Barcelona remains open to signing a center-back, the transfer window closes Tuesday evening, leaving little time for further deals. When asked about potential new arrivals, Flick was cautious:
"I don't think so, but we will see."
