Barcelona Completes Registration of Anthony Gordon for La Liga
Barcelona’s summer rebuild is starting to take a clear, sharp shape.
After ticking off the registrations of Rodri and Karim Adeyemi, the La Liga champions have now pushed Anthony Gordon over the line as well, completing his inscription in the Spanish top flight ahead of their league opener.
Gordon, signed from Newcastle United in a deal worth €70 million plus add-ons, is now officially available for selection in La Liga. The paperwork is done, the name is on the list, and the England winger can be thrown straight into the action on Sunday night when Barcelona face Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.
It marks a significant step in Barcelona’s summer business. Three new arrivals are now fully registered and ready to debut in competitive action this weekend, giving the coaching staff genuine options rather than theoretical ones.
One name still sits in limbo: Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese international’s signing was confirmed on Thursday, but his registration remains pending. Barcelona are racing the clock to see if they can get him cleared in time for the opener against Elche, though that outcome is not yet guaranteed.
What stands out this year is the lack of chaos. In previous summers, Barcelona were forced into late-night negotiations, last-minute exits and frantic salary manoeuvres just to squeeze new signings under the financial limits. This time, the club are operating again under the 1:1 Fair Play rule, and the difference is obvious.
No scramble. No drama. Three signings registered, one more on the brink, and a title defence about to begin with fresh faces ready to step into the spotlight.
