Barcelona Secure Karim Adeyemi in Five-Year Deal from Borussia Dortmund

Karim Adeyemi has officially joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund, agreeing to a contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2031. The transfer fee, while not formally announced, is reported by ESPN to be around 3 million upfront with potential add-ons worth  million. Additionally, Dortmund may receive a cut of any profit if Barcelona sells Adeyemi in the future.

Career Journey and Performance

Adeyemi's youth development included time at Bayern Munich, but his senior career took off at Red Bull Salzburg in 2018. At Salzburg, he tallied 33 goals and 24 assists across 94 matches before moving to Dortmund in 2022. During his stint at BVB, he featured in 146 games, scoring 36 goals and assisting 25 times. His Champions League record stands at 48 appearances with 16 goals and seven assists.

The German international is known for his blistering pace and powerful left foot, qualities that suit multiple attacking roles. Hansi Flick, Barcelona's coach who handed Adeyemi his German national team debut, values these traits highly.

Expected Debut and Upcoming Matches

Adeyemi was not part of Germany’s 2026 World Cup squad and carries no injury concerns, so he should be available immediately for Barcelona. While the club’s first pre-season match against CE Europa this Friday might come too soon, he is expected to travel with the team to England next week. His earliest possible debut could be in the friendly against Birmingham City on July 31.

The official competitive debut for Adeyemi might happen during Barcelona's La Liga opener versus Elche on August 23, marking a new chapter for the club's attack, which also features recent signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
