Flick made his stance clear when asked about repositioning the Brazilian: “I do not care in which position Raphinha plays, what matters to me is what he shows on the pitch. The fans connect with him and with the team. We have a great atmosphere, and that is the most important thing. What matters is how the press begins.”

That connection has been visible at the Camp Nou. Raphinha’s work rate, his aggression without the ball, and his confidence in front of goal have given Flick a credible central option while the club’s recruitment department keeps hitting brick walls.

The Alvarez pursuit, meanwhile, has drifted towards dead end territory. Atletico are angered by Barcelona’s insistence and have refused to entertain talks. Asked directly about the Argentine, Flick shut it down: “I do not want to comment on matters of this kind. We won our second match in a row, and that is what matters to me.”
