Bayern Munich Rejects Real Madrid's Interest in Michael Olise

Florentino Perez wants a new galáctico. Bayern Munich have made it clear it will not be Michael Olise.

While Real Madrid’s presidential race fuels headlines about a €150 million “superstar on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo”, Bayern’s hierarchy keep repeating the same message: Olise is going nowhere.

Back in April, sporting director Max Eberl cut through the noise with a blunt response when asked about potential suitors for the Frenchman. “No, quite simply: no. We have a long-term project, and Michael is happy here.”

That line has only grown in significance as speculation around Real’s next marquee signing intensifies.

A contract built to resist Madrid

Olise’s deal at Säbener Straße runs until 2029 and, crucially for Bayern, it is locked down on their terms.

Eberl had already moved to quash talk of an escape route last October. Speaking to 11Freunde, he pushed back at claims Bayern were losing ground in the transfer market and used Olise as his prime example.

“What I feel is being overlooked in this discussion,” he said, “is that, in Michael Olise, we have signed a professional from Crystal Palace who has a contract with us until 2029 – without a release clause – and is on his way to becoming one of the world's best players.”

Those words landed as a statement of intent. Bayern had not only beaten competition to sign him from Crystal Palace for €53 million in the summer, they had also built a contract that gives them maximum leverage.

Even as whispers grew that the 24-year-old could somehow be bought out of that agreement, the club stayed tight-lipped. When pressed on the matter at the end of August, sporting director Christoph Freund refused to open the door even a fraction.

“As a matter of principle, we never discuss the contents of contracts,” he said, keeping the mystery alive but the stance firm.

Behind the scenes, the picture is even simpler: Olise is not agitating for a move. Those close to the situation insist he is not contemplating a change of scenery, least of all a jump to the Spanish capital.

Perez’s grand promise collides with Bayern’s reality

On the other side of Europe, Perez has been talking big.

The Real Madrid president has already announced his intention to launch a massive bid for a headline signing, describing a proposal that would shake even Madrid’s own transfer history.

“On Tuesday, I will table a substantial offer to a leading Champions League club for a player who would deliver the biggest transfer in Madrid's history. At least €150 million,” he said, framing the move as an urgent priority.

That kind of language inevitably drags names into the spotlight. Erling Haaland sits at the centre of those conversations. Olise’s form has pushed him into the same orbit.

Yet Perez has been equally clear about who is not on his list. He has categorically ruled out moves for Olise, Jeremy Doku and Harry Kane, and dismissed any idea of raiding FC Barcelona. He has also rubbished rival presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme’s claim that a deal for a star striker is already done.

So Real want a blockbuster. Bayern have a rising star. The numbers being thrown around would tempt almost anyone. But at this stage, the Madrid noise crashes straight into a Munich brick wall.

Bayern’s new cornerstone

Olise has given Bayern every reason to dig in.

Signed for €53 million from Crystal Palace, he was the only new arrival to make an immediate and decisive impact. Across all competitions, he delivered 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 appearances – elite output for any forward, let alone one still shaping his peak years.

Those figures explain why Eberl speaks about him as “on his way to becoming one of the world's best players” and why Bayern view him less as an asset to cash in on and more as a pillar around which to build the next version of their team.

For now, the story is straightforward. Madrid chase their next galáctico. Bayern believe they already have one – and they have no intention of watching him walk out towards the Bernabéu spotlight.
