Bournemouth's Europa League Fixtures Against Milan and Real Sociedad

Bournemouth now know the scale of the task ahead in Europe – and it’s a mix of glamour, graft and long-haul logistics.

Marco Rose’s side have discovered their eight opponents for the Europa League’s new 36-club league phase, a format built on seeding and strict country limits. Clubs were split into four pots based on their performances in Uefa competitions over the past five years, with pot one packed with the heavyweights and pot four containing the lowest-ranked qualifiers.

From that system, each team is paired with two opponents from each pot. No more than two sides from the same country. No clashes with domestic rivals. Out of that maze, Bournemouth have emerged with a draw that delivers both prestige and peril.

A home night against AC Milan will be the headline occasion at the Vitality Stadium, a genuine European heavyweight under the lights on the south coast. Trips to Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo promise technical, high-tempo football in Spain, while journeys to Prague, Graz, Beer Sheva and Lillestrom will test Bournemouth’s depth, resilience and travel planning as much as their tactics.

The precise order of those fixtures is still to come, with Uefa to confirm the schedule in due course. What is fixed, though, is the calendar that will frame Bournemouth’s European adventure.
