Bournemouth Signs Michele Di Gregorio on Loan from Juventus

Bournemouth have made their move – and it’s a bold one.

The club have confirmed the signing of Michele Di Gregorio from Juventus, a deal that brings the 29-year-old goalkeeper to the Vitality Stadium on an initial season-long loan and sends a clear message about their ambition in the Premier League.

The agreement is anything but casual. Juventus announced that Bournemouth will pay €1.3m for the one-year loan, with a further €800,000 tied to performance-related bonuses if Di Gregorio hits certain targets during his first campaign in England. It’s structured, calculated business – and it could quickly become a long-term relationship.

At the end of the loan, Bournemouth hold an option to buy for €12.7m, payable over three financial years, with another €1.5m possible in add-ons. If the Italian adapts quickly and delivers, the Cherries have already built the pathway to keep him.

The Premier League is the most beautiful league in the world. It's an honour for me to be here and to have the chance to play and play at such a high level.”

For Bournemouth, it’s a signing that carries both pedigree and personality. For Tiago Pinto, the club’s director, it’s a statement.

“Michele is a goalkeeper with excellent qualities and valuable experience at the highest level,” Pinto said, underlining exactly why the club pushed to get the deal done.

He pointed to Di Gregorio’s body of work in Italy, including his spell at the Allianz Stadium, as proof of his reliability under pressure. “He has consistently demonstrated his ability in Serie A and in European competitions, and we believe he will be an excellent addition to our squad,” Pinto added.

While Bournemouth strengthen, Juventus reshape.

Di Gregorio’s exit is part of a sweeping overhaul of the goalkeeping department in Turin, a deliberate break from the previous hierarchy. The Italian giants are installing a new order between the posts, and the headline act in that reshuffle is Guglielmo Vicario, who has arrived on loan from Tottenham Hotspur with an option to buy.

Juventus see Vicario as a potential long-term No. 1. Bournemouth now hope Di Gregorio can become exactly the same for them – starting with one decisive season on the south coast.
