Brian Sorensen Joins Republic of Ireland Women's Coaching Staff

Brian Sorensen is set for a swift return to the international stage, with the former Everton manager poised to join the Republic of Ireland women’s set-up for their World Cup play-off qualifiers later this year.

The Dane will step in as assistant coach, linking up with Liverpool coach Amber Whiteley on the backroom team. It marks a notable addition to Ireland’s staff at a crucial point in their campaign.

Sorensen is expected to combine the role with his current position as technical director of Aston Villa Women. He will remain in that post, but link up with the Ireland squad during international windows.

There is another familiar face in the mix. Sorensen will be working under manager Carla Ward, who previously went head-to-head with his Everton side in the Women’s Super League while she was in charge at Villa.
