Burton Albion Sign Winger Caylan Vickers from Brighton

Burton Albion have dipped into the Premier League market to land winger Caylan Vickers from Brighton, banking on his League One know-how to sharpen their attack.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. The fee remains undisclosed, but the intent is clear enough: this is a signing to make an immediate impact, not one to stash away for later.

Vickers arrives with a solid grounding in the division. Last season he took in loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, learning the grind of League One from the inside. Burton are betting that those months on the road – and the bumps that come with them – have hardened a young winger who is now ready to step in and deliver.

He first emerged at Reading, coming through their system before earning a move to Brighton. The Premier League switch never quite opened the first-team door for him at the Amex; he did not make a senior appearance for the Seagulls. Burton now offer the stage he has been chasing.

"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," said Brewers head coach Gary Bowyer. The message is bold and uncomplicated: Vickers is here to change games, not just fill out the squad.

Bowyer underlined that experience in the third tier as a key factor. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."
