Chelsea's Bid for Alex Scott Rejected by Bournemouth
Chelsea’s pursuit of Alex Scott has hit a brick wall.
The London club have seen three bids rejected for the 23-year-old Bournemouth midfielder, with the south-coast side making it brutally clear: Scott is not for sale.
Chelsea blocked in Scott chase
As reported by iNews, Chelsea pushed hard, tabling offers between £62 million and £68m for the England midfielder. Those are numbers that usually make mid-table Premier League clubs at least pause.
Bournemouth didn’t even blink.
With Enzo Fernandez expected to leave Stamford Bridge, Chelsea had identified Scott as the ideal heir to anchor their midfield. The plan was neat: cash in on the World Cup winner, reinvest heavily in one of the league’s most coveted young playmakers, and roll into the new season with a refreshed core.
That plan is now in serious trouble.
Chelsea moved quickly in the early weeks of the window, tying up much of their business before pre-season properly kicked in. But a new central midfielder was always on the agenda, and Scott sat right at the top of that list despite Bournemouth’s early hands-off message.
The “amazing” midfielder has built a strong reputation after another standout campaign, attracting interest from several top clubs. Contract talks with Bournemouth were paused last month, a development that only fuelled outside interest and encouraged suitors like Chelsea to test Bournemouth’s resolve.
The answer has been emphatic.

Inside Bournemouth, the stance is consistent. The club have told players, agents and rivals that their biggest stars will stay put on the south coast for the coming season.
Qualifying for the Europa League has changed the mood and the strategy. Rather than cashing in at the first sign of a big fee, Bournemouth have looked closely at how other Premier League sides have coped when juggling domestic and European schedules. Their conclusion is simple: survival and progress in Europe demand continuity.

That thinking underpins the refusal to engage over Scott. The club want stability for new manager Marco Rose, who arrived to find much of the summer business already done. Bournemouth moved early in the window, giving Rose a clear picture of his squad and sending a strong signal to anyone circling their top performers.
The message to Chelsea has been the same as to everyone else: you’re wasting your time.
Man City interest, Enzo twist
Manchester City have also tracked Scott, impressed by his development and versatility. But Bournemouth’s hard line has forced the champions to explore other names.
One of those, intriguingly, is Enzo Fernandez himself.
City’s interest in the Chelsea midfielder adds another layer to an already tangled saga. Chelsea are open to a sale, but only on their terms and only if they can land a suitable replacement. Scott was supposed to be that solution.
Right now, he isn’t.
With the deadline closing in and Bournemouth refusing to even open the door, Chelsea’s recruitment team are being pushed towards a late rethink in midfield. The club still expect movement around Enzo, but without Scott on the table, the margin for error shrinks.
