Chelsea Attempts to Block Juventus' Expected Signing of Dutch Striker Joshua Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee, the Dutch forward currently with Manchester United, has apparently promised to join Juventus. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker is open to a move to Turin, but Chelsea is now trying to interrupt the deal.
Juventus has been monitoring Zirkzee for a while, and this summer the transfer seems increasingly possible. The agreement would be a loan with an option to buy. Although the striker wants to link up with Italy's most decorated club, Chelsea also shows interest.
Recent Juventus Striker Changes
This summer, Juventus parted ways with Lois Openda, who moved to Olympique Lyon in France. His spot has been filled by Randal Kolo-Muani, who arrived on a permanent deal from Paris-Saint Germain.
Jonathan David's Role in the Transfer
The club also wants to transfer out Canadian forward Jonathan David. Before Zirkzee can join permanently, David must leave first. But David shows no desire to exit Turin. Zirkzee is willing to wait for the move to happen but not indefinitely. Despite the mutual interest from Zirkzee, Juventus, and Manchester United, the transfer remains uncertain.
Zirkzee's Recent Performance
Last week, Zirkzee impressed during Manchester United’s friendly against BK Rosenborg. The 25-year-old skillfully dribbled past two defenders and the goalkeeper before calmly scoring.
