The Senegalese international is set to join Chelsea before the transfer window closes, with the payment terms still being finalized. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the deal is close to completion. Camara will be a direct replacement for Fernandez, who is on the verge of a £120 million switch to Manchester City, where he will reunite with coach Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea had pursued Camara all summer, outbidding Crystal Palace to secure their top midfield target.

Issues Behind Fernandez's Departure

Fernandez's exit follows a difficult spell under manager Xabi Alonso. Recently, Alonso left Fernandez out of the squad for a Carabao Cup win over Luton Town and openly questioned his attitude and readiness.

For me, it is very important they feel this desire to play and to have good preparation," Alonso explained regarding his decision.
