Crystal Palace Sign Axel Disasi on Loan from Chelsea
Crystal Palace have moved to bolster their back line by bringing in France international Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea, the clubs confirmed on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old centre back arrives at Selhurst Park after a stop-start spell at Stamford Bridge, where he made 61 appearances following his move from Monaco in 2023. Chelsea have reshaped their defensive options again this summer, and Disasi becomes the latest high-profile name to head out in search of regular minutes.
He already knows the Premier League grind. Last season, Disasi spent time on loan at West Ham United, featuring 14 times in the league and adding another dose of English top-flight experience to a CV that already includes Champions League football and a World Cup run.
The defender made it clear why he chose Palace.
"I'm very happy. The club has been going in a very good direction, so I think it was the right place for me to keep going," Disasi said in a statement, pointing to the trajectory at Selhurst Park as a key factor in his decision.
Disasi’s pedigree is not in doubt. He was part of the France squad that reached the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, training and competing alongside some of the game’s elite on the biggest stage.
Now he steps into a Palace side looking to tighten up at the back and push higher up the table. How quickly he settles in South London could shape both his season and theirs.
