Crystal Palace Signs Young Talent Khalaili for £21 Million
Crystal Palace have landed one of Europe’s more intriguing young attackers, confirming the signing of Israel international Khalaili from Union Saint-Gilloise in a deal worth a reported £21 million.
The 21-year-old has penned a long-term contract at Selhurst Park running until 2031, a clear statement that Palace see him as a cornerstone of their next era rather than a short-term gamble.
From Haifa prodigy to title winner
Khalaili arrives with a reputation for versatility and end product. Capped 16 times by Israel, he can operate as a full-back or higher up as a winger, a tactical flexibility that will appeal immediately in the Premier League.
He first burst onto the scene at Maccabi Haifa, where he scored 15 goals in 52 appearances and helped the club lift the 2023 Super Cup. That early surge earned him a move to Belgium, and his trajectory only climbed from there.
At Union Saint-Gilloise, he played his part in ending a 90-year wait for a league title in the 2024-25 season, a landmark achievement that underlined his ability to contribute on big stages. Now comes the leap to English football. Speaking to the club’s official channels after sealing his move to the Premier League, Khalaili made it clear he has been building toward this step.
“I have followed the Premier League for a long time, it's a new challenge for me,” he said, framing the move as the natural next test in his development rather than a leap into the unknown.
His admiration for his new club was just as evident.
“And Crystal Palace I like, because I have followed them for a long time. They have deserved to win three trophies and I want to do more.”
Ambition, not nostalgia, drove those words. He is not arriving to simply admire the club’s history; he is talking about adding to it.
Palace’s rebuild takes sharper shape
This signing fits neatly into a broader, deliberate reset at Selhurst Park. The Eagles’ hierarchy are piecing together a squad built for depth and flexibility, giving Sage more options across the pitch and across competitions.
Khalaili becomes Palace’s fifth addition of the summer. At the back, Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu have arrived on free transfers, bolstering the defensive unit with experience and composure.
