David Raya Signals Arsenal's Ambition to Build a Champions League Legacy After Ending Premier League Title Drought

David Raya, Arsenal's goalkeeper, has boldly declared the club’s aim to create a lasting dynasty in European football. After securing their first Premier League title in 22 years, the Spanish shot-stopper insists the team is hungry for even bigger achievements.

Arsenal Eyes Long-Term Dominance

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s squad is focused on proving that last season’s league triumph wasn’t a one-time success. Following over two decades without lifting the trophy, the Gunners are now shifting attention toward winning the Champions League.

Although Arsenal reached the Champions League final last season, they fell short against Paris Saint-Germain. That defeat has only strengthened the team’s determination to claim the European crown and defend their Premier League title aggressively.

Raya Outlines Arsenal’s Winning Targets

"We want to become winners, not just a one-off," Raya said. "I think we’re going to have to attack the league again, attack the cups, attack the Champions League because we want more."

The goalkeeper expressed strong confidence in the squad’s abilities, adding, "We want all the trophies, and we are confident that we can beat anybody at any time, so we just have to be focused on ourselves and do better than last season."

Strengthening Defense with Key Signings

Arsenal’s successful season saw five players – Raya, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Gabriel Magalhaes – named in the PFA Team of the Year. Reflecting on this, Raya commented, "The season was incredible, collectively and individually. I think we deserved to be champions, so that was the most important thing."

To maintain momentum, Arsenal invested heavily in the transfer market. Bruno Guimaraes joined from Newcastle for £75 million plus Christos Tzolis, while Ezri Konsa arrived from Aston Villa in a £55 million deal, strengthening the league’s toughest defense.

Raya welcomed these additions, saying, "Ezri coming in adds competitiveness inside the team, which is incredible and really good for the whole squad."

Strong Start to Title Defense

Arsenal kicked off their title defense convincingly with a 3-0 win over Coventry, marking Raya’s first clean sheet of the new season. Having secured his third consecutive Golden Glove last term with 19 shutouts, he’s eager to continue his streak alongside elite goalkeepers like Pepe Reina, Joe Hart, and Ederson.

"It’s not just me," Raya noted. "It’s collective. This is my third time consecutively, but we cannot stop here. We want to keep winning and keep the clean sheets coming, hoping for more Golden Gloves."

With tough fixtures ahead both domestically and in Europe, Arteta’s refreshed squad must quickly integrate new signings like Guimaraes and Konsa. Balancing Premier League ambitions with a serious push in the Champions League will be critical.
