Davide Frattesi Returns to Lazio: A Homecoming with Responsibility
Davide Frattesi is back where it all began. In Rome, in the Giustiniana streets he once walked as a kid with a dream and a kit bag, now returning as a full Italy international and the centerpiece of a new project at Lazio.
The club have officially unveiled the 24-year-old as their latest signing, closing a deal that dragged longer than expected because of minor bureaucratic delays but never really lost momentum. The wait frayed nerves. It also sharpened desire.
“When days like this happen, you go back and forth,” Frattesi told the club’s media. “It was tiring, but beautiful: it was worth it.”

The deal itself underlines that belief. Lazio have taken Frattesi on a paid loan worth €5m, a sizeable outlay for a single season. They hold an option to buy for €10m, with performance-related bonuses on top. Inter, wary of losing a player who still carries significant upside, have secured a 50% sell-on clause on any future capital gain from his next move.
Everyone involved expects Frattesi to grow. They just disagree on where and how fast.
Leaving Inter to lead
His time at San Siro never quite settled into a rhythm. There were flashes – late runs, goals, surges from midfield that hinted at something more – but they came in bursts, not as the weekly norm. “We had been quite close in January, then for a series of reasons we were unable to close,” Frattesi revealed. “This time they informed me a couple of days ago: there was only time to decide and settle the papers. I didn't have many doubts.”
