Djed Spence Set for Inter Debut After International Break

Djed Spence is finally closing in on his first minutes in an Inter shirt. The wait has been longer than anyone at Appiano Gentile expected, but the plan is clear now: October is his launch pad.

The English right-back, signed from Tottenham in the summer for €35m, has yet to feature for the Nerazzurri. Not a single competitive minute. For a marquee defensive signing at 26, that silence on the pitch has been loud.

The reason has never been in doubt. Spence arrived in Milan drained after a gruelling World Cup run with England, and Inter chose caution over risk. Since landing in Italy, he has been working away from the main group, on a tailored programme designed to rebuild his match fitness rather than rush him into the rotation.

That isolation is almost over.

According to Gazzetta, Spence will continue to train separately this week, but the schedule flips next week. The former Spurs defender is expected to rejoin full sessions with his teammates as Inter crank back up after the international break.

Cristian Chivu has given his squad a full week off, a rare breather in a crowded calendar. Those not away with their national teams will report back on Monday, when group work resumes and Spence can finally start to slot into Inter’s collective patterns instead of running his own race on the side.

The target date is already circled: October 10.

That night, at San Siro, Inter host Parma in Serie A, and Spence is expected to be available for selection for the first time. It does not guarantee a start, but it does mark the end of the waiting room.
