Djed Spence Joins Inter Milan: Transfer Details and Contract

Djed Spence is on the brink of a new life in Serie A, with Inter waiting in Milan and the paperwork all but done.

After days of hard bargaining, Tottenham and Inter finally reached an agreement this week: a deal worth €31.5m up front, with add-ons taking the total package to €35m. Spurs have also secured a 10 per cent cut of any future sale, a clear sign they still believe the 23-year-old’s value can rise.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spence has already packed his bags and is due to land in Milan tonight. From the airport, it will be straight into the familiar routine of a big transfer: a hotel, a night to settle, then medicals on Friday.

Those tests will come in two stages – first with Inter’s own medical staff, then with specialists from CONI, the Italian Olympic Committee, as required for athletes registering in Italy. Only once he clears both can the formalities end and the real work begin.

Waiting for him is a five-year contract, reported to be worth €2.6m per season plus performance-related bonuses. It’s a long commitment from Inter, and a sizeable investment in a player whose pace and energy down the flank fit neatly into their system.

There’s already a personal touch to the move. It’s been suggested Spence has chosen the Number 24 shirt, a jersey once worn at Inter by another former Tottenham player, Christian Eriksen. A small detail, but one that links the club’s recent past in North London to its next English arrival.

If everything goes to plan in the medical rooms on Friday, Inter will have their new right-back signed, sealed and ready to step into the San Siro spotlight.
