Estevao's Focus Amid Limited Minutes at Chelsea

Estevao has barely kicked a ball for Chelsea in the Premier League this season, but the teenager insists his focus has not shifted an inch.

The 19-year-old Brazilian, hailed as one of the club’s brightest attacking prospects, is still waiting for his first league start under Xabi Alonso. His entire domestic contribution so far: 27 minutes from the bench. Yet while his role at Stamford Bridge remains limited, his status back home is very different. Brazil have called him up again for the upcoming international break.

It is a curious contrast. On one side, a squad packed with attacking options where minutes are hard to come by. On the other, a national team that still sees a player worth bringing into its plans.

Asked about working under Alonso and the challenge of breaking into Chelsea’s starting XI, Estevao kept his answer simple and pointed.

“Every coach has their own way of playing,” he said when questioned about the Blues boss. “And of course, we work hard every day and give our best every single day. So that's what I do.”

He knows the competition around him is fierce. Chelsea have invested heavily in young, technical forwards, and the pathway to regular football is crowded.

“We have players of extreme quality at Chelsea,” he admitted. “So what I do is focus on what I can, on what I can control. I try to give my best in training, and when I get the opportunity, I always give my best, and that goes day after day.”

The message is clear: no complaints, no public frustration, just a steady insistence that he is ready whenever called.

“So, in all the opportunities that I get, and that I've had, I think I've seized a lot of those, taken on a lot of those responsibilities,” he said, pointing to the cameos he has managed to carve out so far.

For now, his battle is as much mental as tactical. Patience, persistence, and a belief that the work behind closed doors will eventually be rewarded.

“I try to control what I can, leave tomorrow in God's hands, and trust in my work.”

The minutes may be scarce at Chelsea, but with Brazil still knocking on his door, the question is no longer whether Estevao is ready. It’s how long the club can keep a talent like this waiting.
