The signs are all there. The forward did not train with Barcelona on Thursday and had also been excused from the previous day’s session, a clear indication that negotiations have moved into their decisive phase.
PSG tied down personal terms with Ferran some time ago. The last remaining step is the definitive structure of the transfer fee, but both sides expect to get it over the line quickly.
For Barcelona, banking around €55 million for a player with just one year left on his contract is hard to argue with from a financial perspective. From a sporting one, it stings. Letting go of a World Cup final hero is never part of the ideal script.

The Catalan club have already seen two offers knocked back. The first, worth €50 million, was rejected. The second, a €60 million proposal combining a fixed fee and variables, has also been turned down according to reports in England and Spain.
Barcelona are not walking away. Inside the club, there is still a strong belief that a deal for Rodri can be struck before the window shuts. The strategy is clear: prepare a third, “definitive” bid in the region of €70 million, structured as €60 million guaranteed plus €10 million in add-ons.
This is where Ferran’s move to Paris becomes crucial. The money brought in from his transfer will not just strengthen Barcelona’s hand in negotiations with City, it will also ease the pressure on salary limits and squad registration, two constant obstacles in recent years.
One exit, then, could unlock the marquee arrival they crave.
