Galatasaray’s move for Gabriel Martinelli was already ambitious. Now the whole thing has turned into something far more complicated.
Arsenal, still hunting for a true No 9, have reportedly been offered the chance to bring Victor Osimhen to north London in a blockbuster swap involving Martinelli. That alone would be a seismic deal. The idea of Ethan Nwaneri being thrown into the mix as well turns it into full-blown fantasy‑football territory, a mega trade that would reshape Mikel Arteta’s attack in one hit.
Whether Arsenal would really cash in on a 23-year-old winger so central to their project is another matter. But the Osimhen carrot is a big one for a club that has spent two seasons flirting with the title and knows it needs a ruthless finisher to take the final step.
Reijnders on the move already?
Tijjani Reijnders has barely had time to settle into Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City blueprint and already his name is being shuffled around the market. The Dutch midfielder, a smooth operator but one who needs a clearly defined role, may find it hard to nail down a spot in a system packed with technicians.
Nottingham Forest have been linked and that interest has rippled further afield. Al Qadsiah, now under the management of Brendan Rodgers, are prepared to test City’s resolve with a £51m offer. For a player still working out where he fits, that is serious money and a serious decision for all involved.
Newcastle flush with cash, short in midfield
Newcastle’s midfield has been gutted. Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães have gone, heading to Spurs and Arsenal respectively, leaving a gaping hole in the centre of the pitch but around £175m in the bank.
That cash is already being pointed towards Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, a powerful, progressive option who fits the age and profile Newcastle like to work with. On the right side of defence, Rafik Belghali is another target. The Magpies could land the full-back for about £12m, a modest fee in a window where prices elsewhere are spiralling.
Leeds eye familiar face at the back
At Leeds, the rebuild continues with a more pragmatic feel. Daniel Farke wants Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach, a defender he knows well from their time together in Germany.
Elvedi is 29, wants a new challenge and has only a year left on his contract. All the signs point in one direction: Elland Road. Barring a late twist, this is the kind of deal that usually gets done.
Forest’s quiet addition in goal
Not every transfer is designed to set social media on fire. Nottingham Forest are closing in on Steven Benda, the former Swansea goalkeeper, on a free.
Third-choice keepers rarely get ticker-tape parades, but Forest are shoring up a position that can quickly become a crisis if injuries strike. It will not move the needle for the supporters, yet managers sleep easier with this sort of business completed.
Palace build depth – and look to the past
Crystal Palace are quietly thickening out their squad. Anan Khalaili is set to arrive from Union Saint-Gilloise to push Daniel Muñoz at right-back, adding competition in a position where Palace have leaned heavily on one man.
At centre-back, the picture is more aggressive. Palace are ready to fight for Tiago Gabriel of Lecce, valued at £25m and previously the subject of a bid from Benfica. Bournemouth are also tracking the defender, so this could turn into a straight Premier League scrap for a highly rated piece of the market.
And then there is a familiar face back at the training ground. Wilfried Zaha, currently without a club, is working with Palace to keep fit. He grew up at Selhurst Park, carried the team for long stretches across two spells and never quite found his footing at Manchester United.
The question now hangs in the south London air: with Zaha available and Palace looking to deepen their squad, is there room for one last chapter together?
