Hull City Pursue Roma's Robinio Vaz in Major Loan Deal

Hull City are closing in on a bold move for Roma’s 19-year-old forward Robinio Vaz, with the newly-promoted Premier League side pushing through a season-long loan that carries a huge buy option.

Respected reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic says Hull are close to agreeing terms with Roma on a deal worth €2m for the loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent for a further €30m.

For a club just stepping back into the Premier League, it is an eye-catching play. For Roma, it could be swift business.

The Italian side only brought Vaz in from Marseille in the winter window earlier this year, paying €25m for one of Ligue 1’s brightest young attackers. If Hull trigger the option, Roma would bank an immediate profit just months after his arrival.

Vaz had burst onto the scene in France at the start of the 2025-26 campaign, scoring four goals and adding two assists in 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille before Roma came calling midway through the season.

Game time in Italy has been harder to come by. The teenager made 12 Serie A outings for Roma, all from the bench, but still managed to add one more goal to his season tally. Enough to remind scouts why he commanded such a fee in the first place.

The potential deal comes against the backdrop of financial fair play pressure in the capital. Earlier in the summer, Roma were widely expected to cash in on at least one major name to ease the strain. Yet with the Serie A window entering its final week, the club have so far resisted major sales.

Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain at Stadio Olimpico, underlining that Roma have not yet sacrificed their headline assets.

So the focus now lands on Vaz. If Hull complete the move and eventually go all-in on the €30m option, the teenager could become the latest high-stakes Premier League gamble — and a quick piece of business that quietly reshapes Roma’s summer.
