Ilyas Ansah Joins Hull City from Union Berlin – Premier League Ambitions
Hull City have landed one of the Bundesliga’s most intriguing young forwards, with Ilyas Ansah arriving from Union Berlin and stepping straight into the glare of the Premier League.
At 21, Ansah already carries a serious body of work. He featured in all but one of Union Berlin’s matches last season, a constant presence in a side battling on multiple fronts. Five goals, three assists – not eye-watering numbers, but enough to mark him out as a lively, evolving threat rather than a finished product.
Germany have seen the potential early. Ansah has already pulled on the national shirt at under-20 and under-21 level, part of a generation being groomed for the senior side. Now, his education moves to England.
And this is no small step for him.
“I’m very excited. It’s a dream come true for me to play in the Premier League, and for such a big club – it’s really an honour for me,” he told the club’s media as the move was confirmed.
He spoke like a player who has been watching from afar, waiting for his moment.
“I have heard a lot about the club, the players and the team, and I’m excited to play with the boys and to get to know them.
“It was an honour and a dream playing in the Bundesliga. Now, I have another dream to play in the Premier League, and I’m going to work hard for it.”
Hull are getting a forward who refuses to be boxed into one role. Ansah sees that versatility as a weapon.
“I’m a very flexible player. I can play almost anywhere up front – on the left side, on the right side, maybe as a 10. I’m definitely a player who always gives his best and leaves it all on the pitch.
“Taking my man on, beating players, shooting on target and scoring goals – that’s my main goal I want to reach at this club.”
Hull have started fast: two wins from two, momentum already building. Ansah knows he is walking into a dressing room that doesn’t need saving – it needs sharpening.
“It’s been a really exciting start to the season – two wins out of two games. Now, it’s time for me to get into the team and be a part of what they are already achieving.”
The Premier League dream is his. The hard part starts now.
Chelsea’s window hangs on Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea are preparing for the possibility that the Argentina international joins Manchester City, with discussions framed around a fee expected to top their original £120m valuation. That kind of money would not sit idle. It would be used to reshape a midfield that has already undergone heavy surgery in recent windows.
Inside the club, there is a clear objective: walk out of this window able to claim that Xabi Alonso’s squad is stronger, even if they lose one of their marquee players to a direct rival.
Names are already on the table. Monaco’s Lamine Camara and Roma’s Manu Kone are understood to be among the midfielders under serious consideration as replacements. Chelsea are also keeping the door open to simply retaining Fernandez, with the whole saga likely to run deep into the night and the use of deal sheets almost inevitable.
Around the edges, exits are being lined up for fringe players, trimming a bloated squad and freeing space for Alonso to mould a more streamlined group.
The outcome of one deal could change the shape of Chelsea’s season. Or leave them trying to explain why they strengthened a rival and didn’t quite strengthen themselves enough.
Zirkzee, Juventus and a domino trail
Elsewhere, Manchester United’s deadline day looks far less like a shopping spree and more like a carefully managed reshuffle.
Unless something dramatic happens with Marcus Rashford at the last minute, United’s main storyline is expected to revolve around Joshua Zirkzee and a series of smaller moves.
Fiorentina tried to prise the Netherlands forward away on loan with an option to buy. United pushed back, preferring a permanent sale or at least a loan with an obligation. With neither side willing to bend, Fiorentina have started to look elsewhere.
That stand-off has left the door ajar for Juventus. The Italian giants are keen on the 25-year-old, but their move is chained to another piece of business: Jonathan David’s proposed switch to Atletico Madrid. If the Canada forward goes, the dominoes start to fall. If he stays, Zirkzee may find himself stuck where he is.
Should Zirkzee depart, it could free United to move for a left-back or another attacking reinforcement, most likely on an initial loan. Margins are tight, options are conditional, and time is short.
One forward’s future might yet decide how much room United have to fix the rest of their squad before the window slams shut.
