Inter Milan Completes £30m Signing of Curtis Jones

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool in a deal worth up to £30m, drawing a firm line under a 16-year Anfield story.

The Serie A champions will pay an initial £25.7m for the 25-year-old midfielder, with a further £4.3m tied to performance-related add-ons. Liverpool have also secured a 10% sell-on clause, while Jones has committed to a long-term contract at San Siro running until 2031.

A boyhood Liverpool player who joined the academy at the age of nine, Jones broke into the first team under Jurgen Klopp and made his senior debut in 2019. From that moment, he grew into a regular squad figure, going on to rack up 228 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.

Last season under Klopp, Jones featured 49 times across all fronts, but only 18 of those outings came as Premier League starts. That imbalance told its own story. As the club moved into the Arne Slot era and the midfielder entered the final year of his contract, his prospects of nailing down a permanent starting role dimmed.

Liverpool, facing the risk of losing him for nothing next year and reshaping their midfield options, eventually chose to cash in. Inter, sensing an opportunity, moved decisively.

Jones now becomes the latest English player to head to Inter this summer, swapping Anfield’s red for the black and blue of San Siro and opening a fresh chapter in Serie A.
