ITV Secures Broadcast Rights for 2027 Rugby World Cup

ITV will televise the Rugby World Cup next year in Australia, marking its tenth consecutive tournament coverage. All 52 matches, including the 24 teams and knockout stages, will be shown live across the event.

"This is much more than a new agreement with a trusted partner, it is a statement of intent to ensure that everyone in the UK can experience and be inspired by one of the world’s iconic sporting events, its action, drama and personalities," said World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin.

Longstanding Partnership and Expanded Coverage

ITV has held rights to every men’s Rugby World Cup since 1991. It has also secured coverage for the 2026 and 2028 Nations Championship tournaments, along with the majority of Six Nations games through 2029 in a shared deal with BBC Sport.

Until summer 2029, ITV will broadcast all scheduled England men's matches, while fixtures involving Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will remain free-to-air in the UK.

The 2027 Rugby World Cup kicks off on October 1 with hosts Australia facing Hong Kong. Fans can expect extensive live coverage throughout the tournament, showcasing some of rugby’s top teams and players.
