Jamie Vardy is swapping the penalty box for the commentary box – and he is doing it in Germany.
According to The Athletic’s German football correspondent Seb Stafford-Bloor, the former Leicester City and England striker is now a live rights holder for the Bundesliga and will launch his coverage with Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart later tonight.
Vardy steps into the Bundesliga spotlight
Vardy has joined That’s Football, the channel fronted by The United Stand host Mark Goldbridge, to help bring Germany’s top flight into a landscape dominated by Premier League content in the UK and Ireland.
The move fits neatly into the Bundesliga’s broader push to cut through in the British and Irish market. By partnering with two familiar English football figures – one a Premier League title winner, the other a leading fan-channel host – the league is betting on personality-driven coverage to draw new eyes to its product.
A new voice for a growing audience
Vardy will front live watchalongs of Bundesliga matches, adding a current player’s perspective to a broadcast space usually occupied by retired pros and traditional pundits.
