Manchester United are bracing themselves to lose one of the most talked‑about teenagers in European football, with 15-year-old JJ Gabriel set on walking away from Old Trafford when he turns 16.
The highly rated prospect, already on the radar of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, has made his stance clear after a turbulent spell behind the scenes.
United told: no new deal
Through his family and agent, Ali Barat, Gabriel has formally informed Manchester United that he will not sign a new contract with the club once he reaches 16.
The message has landed. Inside United, there is now an acceptance that the player and his camp are not about to change course. The club have tabled several proposals in an attempt to keep him, but every offer has been met with the same response: he is leaving.

Sources close to the player say those meetings have already helped shape a key early conclusion: they see La Liga as the ideal league for his development. Between Barcelona and Real Madrid, they believe he would have a platform to grow into a top-level footballer and, in time, establish himself at the very highest level.
That does not close the door on Bayern or PSG. A powerful late proposal from either could still twist the story. But right now, the tug-of-war feels increasingly like a straight duel between the two Spanish giants.
Drawn to Barcelona, watching Madrid
Inside Gabriel’s camp, there is an acknowledgment that one club holds a slight edge in his affections.
The teenager is known to have a particular liking for Barcelona. He has appeared multiple times on social media in Barça colours, showing off his skills with the ball and fuelling speculation about his preferred destination.
At the same time, he has not ignored the other side of the clásico divide. Gabriel follows Real Madrid and several of their players on social media, a small but telling sign that he is keeping a close eye on what the European champions can offer.
