Joël Piroe Joins West Ham on Loan from Leeds United

Leeds United have confirmed that Joël Piroe has joined West Ham United on loan for the rest of the 2026/27 campaign, sending one of their key recent scorers into a Championship promotion fight.

The Surinamese forward arrived at Elland Road from Swansea City in August 2023 on the back of a 19-goal haul, and he wasted no time justifying the move. Thrown straight in two days after signing, he made his debut against Ipswich Town in the second tier and marked it with a goal for Daniel Farke’s side.

That first season in white underlined his eye for goal. Piroe featured 53 times in all competitions and finished with 16 goals, settling quickly into the demands at the top end of the Championship.

He went up another level the following year. In 2024/25, the striker played 48 matches and struck 19 goals as Leeds stormed to the title and secured their return to the Premier League. His tally earned him the division’s Golden Boot and cemented his status as one of the most reliable finishers outside the top flight.

Now 27, Piroe heads to a very different assignment. West Ham, relegated from the Premier League last season, are pushing for an immediate return and have turned to a proven Championship scorer to sharpen their attack at the London Stadium.

Leeds, announcing the deal, confirmed the move as a loan for the remainder of the season and signed off with a simple message: everyone at the club wishes Joël Piroe the best of luck in claret and blue.
