Kalvin Phillips Set for Sheffield United Loan as PSG Outpace Liverpool for Monaco's Akliouche
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is close to securing a second loan spell at Championship club Sheffield United. Since his arrival from Leeds United in summer 2022, the 30-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium, featuring just 32 times for the Citizens.
Phillips’ appearances have been limited since the 2023-24 season ended, having spent time on loan with West Ham United, Ipswich Town, and Sheffield United. A knee injury restricted him to only three games during his initial stint with the Blades last season, but sources indicate he will be heading back to the Championship side soon.
The Manchester Evening News reports that confirmation of Phillips' return should arrive within days. With two years left on his contract at City, he was excluded from the club’s pre-season tour squad, signaling an imminent departure from the club once more.
PSG Close to Signing Monaco Attacker Maghnes Akliouche
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain appear ready to beat Liverpool to the signing of Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Despite interest from Liverpool this summer, talks between PSG and Monaco have reportedly advanced significantly, with the French club set to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.
Akliouche has netted 23 goals and provided 28 assists across 139 appearances for Monaco in all competitions. Last season, he contributed seven goals and 11 assists in 43 matches. The France international, capped 10 times, also boasts Champions League experience with three goals and five assists in 20 outings.
Known for his versatility in attacking roles, Akliouche mainly operates down the right flank but can fill multiple positions across the final third.
Middlesbrough Pursue Everton Goalkeeper Mark Travers
Middlesbrough are reportedly in talks with Everton to bring goalkeeper Mark Travers back to the Riverside Stadium on loan. Travers previously spent the 2024-25 season with Boro on loan, making 17 appearances.
Since joining Everton from Bournemouth last summer, Travers has been limited to just two games, with Jordan Pickford firmly established as Everton’s number one. According to Football Insider, discussions are ongoing for Travers to return on loan for the 2026-27 campaign.
The Republic of Ireland international is eager to find regular playing time and is reportedly interested in leaving Everton this summer. Wrexham have also shown interest in the goalkeeper, who made 82 appearances for Bournemouth before moving to Everton.
