Leeds Appeal Goal Decision After Calvert-Lewin Strike Credited to Bogle

Leeds United have formally appealed the decision to credit their second goal in Monday night’s 4-1 win over Newcastle to Jayden Bogle rather than Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The flashpoint came in the 34th minute at Elland Road. James Justin whipped in a cross, Calvert-Lewin attacked it and wheeled away believing he had headed Leeds into a 2-0 lead. Only later did he discover the Premier League’s goal accreditation panel had ruled Bogle got the final touch.

Calvert-Lewin, who did get his name on the scoresheet with Leeds’ third goal in first-half stoppage time, looked stunned when the referee informed him the earlier strike had been awarded to his team-mate.

The Premier League match centre confirmed on X that the “goal accreditation panel adjudged Leeds’ 34th minute goal as a Bogle goal”, sparking debate over who actually applied the decisive touch.

Leeds have now challenged that ruling. A second panel will be convened to review the incident and make a final determination on the goalscorer — and on whether Calvert-Lewin’s brace becomes official or Bogle keeps the credit.
