Leeds United Moving to Sign Manchester City's Backup Goalkeeper

Earlier rumors suggested that Japanese keeper Zion Suzuki might join Leeds from Parma, but those whispers have since faded. Instead, Leeds seem focused on securing Trafford's signature, as per reports from The Athletic. Trafford himself appears open to leaving the Etihad Stadium in search of more playing time.

Trafford's Role and Recent Form

Last season, Trafford featured in 17 matches across all competitions for Manchester City, though only four were Premier League appearances. Despite limited league action, he contributed to City's success in lifting both the FA Cup and EFL Cup. The 23-year-old was signed from Burnley last summer for a fee estimated between 30m and 34m, and City would likely expect a similar return.

Leeds’ Ambitions and Squad Reinforcements

Having narrowly escaped relegation in the previous campaign, Leeds are aiming higher for the 2026-27 season, targeting a finish in the top half of the table. Their recent acquisitions include defender Tarik Muharemovic from Bosnia & Herzegovina for around 34m and winger Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham.
