Liverpool Gains Strong Advantage in Bradley Barcola Transfer Amid Cody Gakpo Departure Speculation

Liverpool have reignited negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signing of winger Bradley Barcola. The club is expected to submit an improved bid soon as they push to finalize the transfer before the window closes.

Initial Offers and PSG's Demands

An initial proposal around £90 million ($122.3 million) was quickly turned down by PSG earlier this month. The French club is holding out for a much higher fee, reportedly asking for £135 million ($184.2 million) to part ways with their prized young attacker.

Funding the Move Through Gakpo's Possible Exit

The key to unlocking the deal could be the potential sale of Cody Gakpo. The Dutch forward has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, and his exit would provide Liverpool with the funds needed to meet PSG's demands for Barcola.

PSG sporting director Luis Campos recently said the transfer market remains active and many developments are still possible before the deadline.

Personal Terms Already Settled

Barcola has been Liverpool’s top target all summer. The player has already agreed personal terms with the club. Despite that, he hasn’t pushed for a move and is willing to stay at PSG if no agreement on the transfer fee is reached. He still has two years left on his contract.

So far this season, Barcola hasn’t played in PSG’s first three matches but did feature in all eight of France’s games during the recent World Cup, where they finished fourth.

Optimism Builds as Deadline Approaches

Although the price gap between Liverpool’s offer and PSG’s asking fee remains wide, optimism is growing that both sides can find common ground before September 1. PSG expects Liverpool to present a stronger bid within the next day or two, which could prove decisive.

If completed, Liverpool will sign a highly sought-after player who turns 24 next week.
