Liverpool Eye January Moves for Lamine Camara and Tyrick Mitchell
Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, with a deal now viewed as a “real possibility” as the transfer market begins to stir again.
The 22-year-old was on the brink of joining Chelsea on deadline day. He had held lengthy talks over his role at Stamford Bridge and, according to reports, had given the green light to the switch. Then Monaco pulled the plug in the final hours, leaving Chelsea empty-handed and Camara still in Ligue 1.
That late U-turn has not killed the market around him. If anything, it has intensified it.
Chelsea remain keen, but they are no longer alone. Liverpool have emerged as serious contenders and, according to Football Insider, are understood to have already “held talks” over a potential move.
“Lamine Camara is a name that has been discussed behind the scenes,” Mick Brown told Football Insider. “Liverpool will be keeping an eye on how he gets on for Monaco, but there is definitely a deal to be done as we saw when he nearly joined Chelsea.
“His agent has been very outspoken about trying to get him a move, so I expect Liverpool will have held talks with him about the possibility of signing him in January.”
Any club stepping up now will have to pay more than Chelsea’s collapsed package. The London side had initially agreed a deal worth around €55m (£47m, $63m). That figure has risen. Interested parties are now being pointed towards a price closer to €70m (£60m, $81m), a fee that reflects both his age and the growing queue of admirers.
Liverpool, reshaping their midfield and planning for the next phase of the squad, see an opportunity. Chelsea, having missed out once, know they could be dragged into a straight fight if they go back in.

The recruitment debate at Anfield does not stop in midfield.
Attention is also turning to left-back, where questions are mounting. Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas are the main options, but neither is fully secure. Kerkez has struggled to find rhythm and consistency, while Tsimikas is out of contract at the end of the season and remains on the fringes.
That uncertainty has pushed Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell into the conversation. The 25-year-old has already been linked with Manchester United, and now Liverpool are being tipped as potential rivals for his signature.
“Man United aren’t going to be the only club interested in signing Mitchell,” Brown said in a separate update. “For any club looking for a left-back in the Premier League, there are not many options who come up with such consistent performances as Mitchell has for Crystal Palace.
“He impresses every single week, gets on with his job, he’s terrific defensively and he’s improved the attacking side of his game as well, he’s a top, top player.”
That profile makes him a natural target for the division’s heavyweights.
“So when you look at those top clubs, you’ve got Liverpool where Milos Kerkez has been questioned a bit and maybe isn’t as consistent as they’d like him to be,” Brown added. “Then you’ve got Chelsea, who are always going to be interested in this type of deal where they can bring a quality player in without having to spend big.
“Either of those clubs could make a move for Mitchell, because as I say, he will tick a number of boxes for them and could be a very good addition.”
