Liverpool Targets Lamine Camara and Ismaila Sarr in Late Transfer Window
Liverpool’s quiet summer might be about to catch fire in its final days, with Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara reportedly offered to the club as a late opportunity – and he may not be the only Senegal international heading for Anfield.
The window has drifted by without the usual noise on Merseyside. Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have come in permanently, while Ronald Araujo arrived on loan from Barcelona to strengthen the back line. Solid business, not headline-grabbing.
The Barcola breakthrough changed that.
After chasing Bradley Barcola all summer, Liverpool have finally agreed a deal with PSG for the winger. Yet Andoni Iraola made it clear this week that the club are not done, especially out wide, before the September 1 deadline.
“Ideally is the magic word,” Iraola said in his pre-Nottingham Forest press conference when asked if more signings were needed. “There are certain things that you can do, certain things that we don’t know if we can do. But it’s true that the priority has been to strengthen in the wide areas. Still, we have four, five days, I’m sure if we can improve other areas, we will.”
The message was obvious: Liverpool are still moving.
Camara offered to Liverpool and Chelsea
Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs reports that Monaco’s Lamine Camara has been put to both Liverpool and Chelsea as a potential late-window deal. Crystal Palace, he added, saw a bid for the midfielder rejected earlier in the month.
With Curtis Jones sold to Inter Milan, Liverpool’s midfield numbers have thinned, even with high hopes around youngster Trey Nyoni. A central addition has crept up the to-do list.
The situation at Monaco may open that door. The Ligue 1 side have reached an agreement in principle with Cruz Azul for midfielder Erik Lira in a package worth around €10m including add-ons, according to journalist Luca Bendoni. He reported that the deal hinges on Monaco completing the sale of a non-EU player – a category Camara falls into.
If Monaco choose to cash in, Liverpool are one of the clubs already in the conversation.
Sarr chase refuses to die
The Senegal theme does not stop there. Senegalese journalist La Loumance has suggested that Liverpool could yet land both Camara and his international teammate Ismaila Sarr before the window shuts.
“Not the only Senegalese who could sign with Liverpool,” he wrote, hinting at a potential double move.
That line dropped just after Miguel Delaney of The Independent revealed that Liverpool are still pursuing Sarr, despite Crystal Palace’s hardline stance and new boss Pierre Sage insisting the forward is not for sale.
Reports had claimed Liverpool saw a bid of around £50m knocked back by Palace. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey has since been told that no formal offer was actually lodged. Instead, Liverpool are understood to have made an enquiry, with Sarr’s camp then offering the player to the Reds in an attempt to turn that interest into a concrete bid.
So the dynamic is clear. Liverpool like the player. Sarr wants the move. Palace are holding their ground. Something has to give in the final days – or nothing does at all.
Busy finish looming at Anfield
What started as a relatively low-key window is suddenly charged with possibility. Barcola is incoming. Camara has been offered. Sarr remains in play. And behind all of that, club insiders expect Liverpool’s late midfield focus to centre on a player Iraola knows well.
The clock is ticking. Liverpool’s squad is taking shape. The only question now is how bold the club are prepared to be before that window slams shut.
