Liverpool Pursue Sarr with £50 Million Bid as Minteh Chase Ends

Liverpool have swung hard for a late-window solution out wide, tabling a £50 million offer to Crystal Palace for Sarr after abandoning their pursuit of Minteh, according to the Mirror.

Two separate bids for Minteh were knocked back, both well short of Brighton’s uncompromising £70m valuation. With just five days left before the window shuts on Monday, Liverpool have moved quickly to pivot – and Sarr has emerged as the prime target.

The 28-year-old, who joined Palace two years ago, is understood to be very keen on a move to Anfield. Liverpool’s need is stark. The club has been rocked by the tragic death of Diogo Jota and then stripped further by the exits of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah. Wide forwards are no longer a luxury for Iraola. They are the rebuild.

But this is no free run to the finish line.

Foot Mercato reports that Al-Hilal and Galatasaray are both pushing hard for Sarr. Galatasaray are said to be in advanced negotiations, sensing an opportunity to land a prolific winger at the peak of his powers, while Al-Hilal are tracking developments and ready to pounce if the deal opens up.

Sarr’s numbers explain the scramble. Across all competitions last season, he racked up 45 appearances, hit 21 goals and added two assists, playing a central role as Palace went on to lift the UEFA Europa Conference League. He then carried that form onto the biggest stage this summer, scoring four times at the World Cup before Senegal fell to Belgium in the round of 32.

Those figures have turned him from a useful option into a genuine statement signing for any club willing to meet Palace’s price.

Iraola has made no secret of his urgency. With Tottenham and Manchester City both circling Cody Gakpo, the Liverpool manager knows his attacking options could be stretched even further before the deadline.

“Some deals you have to wait until the end. But the end is the important picture, the one we will have on September 1, because it is true that we are still quite thin,” he told Sky Sports.

The Spaniard admitted he had hoped to start the campaign with every position doubled by top-level players, but accepted that the realities of the market have forced him to adapt on the fly.
