Manchester City Sign Allan Elias for £34.2m
Manchester City have moved quickly to fill the void left by Savio, completing the signing of Palmeiras winger Allan Elias in a deal worth up to £34.2m.
City will pay an initial £32m, with a further £2.2m in performance-related add-ons, for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has agreed a five-year contract at the Etihad. He arrives as a like-for-like replacement for compatriot Savio, who sealed a £75m switch to Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Allan comes in as a right-sided winger with pedigree from one of Brazil’s most demanding environments. A product of Palmeiras’ academy, he made 96 appearances for the Sao Paulo giants in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists as he grew from promising youngster into a key first-team option.
For Allan, the move marks a dramatic leap into European elite football.
“This is a surreal moment for me. Manchester City, with everything they have won over the past 15 years, are one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players,” he said after signing. “To be able to sit here today and say I have joined them is the proudest moment of my life.
“I love Palmeiras and always will - but the decision to come to City was an easy one. I want to be the best footballer I can be and the conversations I've had with the people at City so far has convinced me there isn't a better place for me to fulfil my ambitions.”
Maresca’s City keep spending – and reshaping
Allan becomes the latest piece in what has turned into a sweeping rebuild under Enzo Maresca during a frantic summer window.
City’s outlay has already surged past £230m. Elliot Anderson arrived from Nottingham Forest in a £116m deal, while highly rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi joined from Lille for £85.6m. Now Allan adds fresh pace and one-on-one threat to Maresca’s attacking options as the club recalibrates its front line.
The recruitment drive is not finished. City are in talks with Liverpool over Dutch forward Cody Gakpo and remain keen on prising Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea, a move that would further reshape the spine of the side.
Yet this is not simply a spending spree. It is a reset funded by major exits.
City have raised over £286m in player sales, headlined by 2026 World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri, who has completed a £65m move to Barcelona. Tijani Reijnders has also departed, joining Al-Qadsiah for £52m as part of the wider overhaul.
So City step into the new season with a different look: Rodri gone, Savio gone, Allan and a wave of new faces in. The question now is not whether they are changing – it’s how quickly this rebuilt squad can turn all that investment into trophies.
