Marcus Rashford's Manchester United Future Uncertain Amid Arsenal and Barcelona Interest
Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United future is not completely locked in, with senior figures at Old Trafford refusing to rule out a late twist before Tuesday’s transfer deadline – and Arsenal and Barcelona both hovering.
United have brought Rashford back into the fold, given him the number nine shirt and used him off the bench in their opening-day defeat at Hull City. Internally, they are planning with him and want to keep him. That remains the club’s stance.
But the market has not stopped circling.
Arsenal on alert as they rebuild the left
Arsenal are closely tracking the situation. The London club are pushing hard for a new left-sided attacker after approving Gabriel Martinelli’s move to Al-Hilal and have been exploring several options, including Real Madrid’s Endrick.
Rashford, though, has long been admired inside the Emirates. A late move for the England international is viewed as a genuine possibility if the pieces fall into place. With the deadline looming and a gap still open on the left, Arsenal’s interest carries real weight.
Barcelona keep the line open
Barcelona have also stayed in the conversation. The Catalan side remain huge admirers of Rashford after his successful loan spell at the Nou Camp last season and have maintained contact with his camp.
They had hoped to go in a different direction in attack, with Julian Alvarez previously a major target, but a deal for the Atletico Madrid forward before Tuesday is now seen as highly unlikely. That scenario could push Barca back towards Rashford as the window ticks into its final days.
For now, a return to the Nou Camp has not been ruled out.
United walking a tightrope in attack
United’s position is delicate. They are already allowing Joshua Zirkzee to join Fiorentina, which leaves their forward options thinner than they would like. Any decision on Rashford would therefore need to be weighed carefully.
Sources insist a departure remains “highly unlikely” but crucially, not impossible. The club are fully aware of the level of interest and accept that the situation could move quickly if a suitable proposal lands and they can line up an alternative in attack.
Rashford’s name is on the United teamsheet again. His number is back on the shirts in the club shop. But with Arsenal and Barcelona both watching closely and the clock ticking down, the question now is simple: does someone test United’s resolve before the window slams shut?
