Milan Eyeing Zakaria El Ouahdi for Right-Back Position
Milan have turned their attention to Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi as they search for a new right-back this summer.
Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Rossoneri are closely studying a move for the Genk defender, with the club needing to plug the gap left by Atekami, who is on the verge of joining Olympique Lyon.
Born in 2001, El Ouahdi has already built a strong reputation in Belgium and beyond. PSV Eindhoven had previously been linked with the full-back, with several reports in recent weeks highlighting coach Peter Bosz’s wish to bring him to the Eredivisie.
Genk, though, are not blinking. The Belgian side value the Moroccan between 13 and 15 million euros and are standing firm on that price, showing no intention for now of easing their stance or rushing a sale.
Milan have not yet put an official offer on the table. The interest, however, is described as concrete, with the club viewing El Ouahdi as one of the leading options to reinforce the right side of their defence.
If a deal does materialise, El Ouahdi would become the second standout Genk talent to make a major move to a European heavyweight this summer, following Greek prospect Konstantinos Karetsas, who joined Borussia Dortmund in a transfer worth around 35 million euros.
