Newcastle Agrees to Pay €11 Million for Matthias Jaissle's Transfer from Al-Ahli
Reports indicate that Newcastle United have agreed on the fee required to bring German coach Matthias Jaissle from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. The transfer will see Jaissle replace Eddie Howe as head coach next season.
Jaissle officially resigned from his position at Al-Ahli on Thursday, paving the way for his move to the Premier League. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano shared details on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that Newcastle will pay about 11 million euros in compensation for the coach.
Jaissle is set to arrive this Saturday for his unveiling as Newcastle United's sporting director. He has signed a four-year contract running until 2030. Interestingly, he was close to signing a similar duration deal with Al-Ahli, but negotiations broke down over a clause guaranteeing his full contract value if dismissed, which the Saudi club declined.
Jaissle’s Achievements with Al-Ahli
Since taking charge of Al-Ahli in 2023 after succeeding South African coach Pitso Mosimane, Jaissle led the team to significant success. During his three seasons, he guided the club to two AFC Champions League Elite titles and secured the Saudi Super Cup, their first in nine years.
