Nottingham Forest Break Transfer Record for Liam Delap

Nottingham Forest have smashed their transfer record to land Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £50m.

Forest have agreed to pay at least £45m for the striker, with performance-related add-ons taking the package to a potential £50m. Delap is due to undergo a medical on Wednesday, clearing the way for one of the most eye-catching moves of the window.

Forest go big for Delap

The 21-year-old had attracted strong interest from several Premier League clubs, including Everton, but Forest pushed hardest and moved quickest to secure his signature.

Chelsea, who signed Delap from Ipswich for £30m last summer, had valued him at around £50m going into this window. They now bank a £15m profit on a forward who managed two goals in 41 appearances last season.

For Forest, it is a statement of intent. The fee eclipses the £37.5m they paid Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchison in August 2025, underlining how heavily they are backing Delap to grow into a leading figure at the City Ground.

A medical now stands between Forest and the formal announcement of a deal that reshapes their attack and redraws the club’s financial markers in one swing.
